The mission of the Wisconsin Driver Traffic Safety Education Association is to be a vital partner in traffic safety and driver education programs. This partnership will support the education community in improving student safety performance by modeling effective leadership, promoting professional development, and collaborating with special interest groups to promote driver and traffic safety education for all people.
Good day all!
Thank you for visiting your WDTSEA website. It is an honor to be serving you again as President. Many thanks and praise to Bob Movrich for a term well served! I am still amazed that he was able to land Andy Pilgrim for our conference. Nice job, Bob! Speaking of Andy, if you haven’t looked at his 4 - 8 grade traffic safety curriculum, please do. The more correct information we can give these students the safer they will be. We know they are watching, let's let them be part of the solution. AND if you have not read Andy’s article, it can be found in Automotive magazine.
Many thanks are due to past president Dick Bilda for his contributions and leadership on the Board of Directors. Paul Koski decided to step away from the Delegate at Large position in order to embrace retirement a bit more fully. Thank you Paul. Your voice on the board will be missed. Doug Coons has served the association for over a decade as our Business Manager. Thank you Doug.
I am very excited for the folks that have stepped up to fill these vacancies. Karen Sorenson is our President elect. I cannot think of a better person for that position. Karen has served many terms as a NW delegate, served as WDTSEA’s President, North Central delegate for ADTSEA, Spooner School Board President…the list goes on. Long and short of it - Karen is a quality person and dearly appreciated. Karen’s replacement in the NW is Bill Stuessel from River Falls. I look forward to the fresh insights Bill has to offer. Kathy Roe has returned to the Board as our Delegate at Large. After several years of teaching drivers ed at Mukwonago High School, she started Roe’s Premier Driving School. Welcome back Kathy. Dr. Randy Thiel has stepped forward to serve the association as Business Manager for the next two years. Randy’s traffic safety knowledge on the state and national level is outstanding. Previous recognitions include: WDTSEA Hall of Fame, ADTSEA Kaywood Award, MDTSEA Silvernale Award. Honesty and integrity are words that come to mind when you think of Randy. I am very pleased to have Randy join our Board as Business Manager. Running unopposed for Secretary was Christine Bergan. Christine is just a quality person. She has been recognized in our state and nation as a teacher of excellence. Organized to a fault…not really… I mean, we receive our meeting minutes 30 minutes after the meeting. She is good. I feel blessed that she was willing to serve another term, thank you Christine!
This July 22 thru the 25th, the great state of Illinois will be hosting the ADTSEA National Conference in Chicago. If you haven’t attended one of these, you owe it to yourself to take it in. It will be 6 more years before it comes back to the NC region, so …GO. You will not be disappointed. Head to the ADTSEA website for registration and lodging information.
Fall workshop reminder - please come! Send registration in as soon as possible. Sept. 25 will be in Menomonee, Sept 26 in Wausau, Sept 27 in Oshkosh. Oct 2 in Spring Green and Oct. 3 location to be announced.
Have a wonderful wrap up of the 2017/18 school year. Take care of yourself this summer. Schedule a bit of fun for yourself…like July 30th Tuscombia Golf Course…
Blessings on the work you do and the lives you touch!
